Putin fears Russia facing Existential Crisis

Political Commentary

Putin is an ultranationalist Russian who believes he could be the modern Peter the Great of Russia and believes he was destined to save his motherland from Anglo-Saxon dominance led by America and Great Britain.

As a member of the KGB, he learned the politics of subjugation, mental control/brainwash with torture and cool headed assassination of any opposition against their power of domination. Because of his brutal, murderous upbringing, he rose to the top of the Kremlin’s secret power structure. In the outside world, the secret power structure oversees satanic behavior, but in Russia, the less educated proletariat in general, is with him. Democracy is a foreign idea that permeated in Russia and tries to open up human thinking there. Democracy and communism are utopian ideas where all humans are equal, have the same privileges and desire to live a happy life. But biologically, that concept of total equality does not match with the natural chemical processes which ensures the continuity of the living system.

In biology, equilibrium in a living system is death. To achieve the final equilibrium is the goal, but not to achieve it completely. That flow of energy must travel from higher to lower until it reaches an equilibrium. The time during which the process heading towards the endpoint produces the essential energy necessary to sustain life. That is the natural law, which life must abide by so that it could continue.

If we follow this logical, analytical process, then we can see any system which is perfect (in equilibrium) would not continue to work. The utopian idea of total democracy and communism could not support the humanity and/or human existence.

Let us go back to the recent history of the 20th century and part of 21st century we are in. During the First World War, the Anglo-Saxon tribe’s power structure defeated and humiliated Germany. The Allied shackled the proud nation of Germany to serve the British dominated power with the help of America, their cousin. In the aftermath of Germany’s signing of the surrender document, German nationalism became the dominant idea in many German minds. History knew at this point another World War was born in the crucible. The humiliation of defeat and the forced reparations foisted upon Germany propel nationalism to a point where the dream of a Third Reich becomes a reality in the mind of Hitler.

Human history’s bloodiest century was the twentieth century. Starting with the Russian revolution in 1905, World War I & II, breaking out of colonialism, the Korean War, Vietnam War, and other revolutions around the world wrought havoc on human life. Humanity lost over half of the world’s population because of our tribal differences which are responsible for mass death. The natural human instinct that we belong to a specific tribal clan. We humans are not homogeneous. We can’t be because evolutionary forces selected tribal bands suited to that part of the environment. During the process of selection unsuitable or non-adaptive tribes are either decimated by the more adaptive tribes and/or natural calamities that change the environmental milieu.

During World War II, Hitler wanted to neutralize Russia and grab unlimited natural resources it possessed, which would make Germany the greatest Third Reich. But he kept his ambitions in mind, sharing war loot from East European countries to get help from Stalin, who was an ultranationalist, power-hungry dictator like Hitler. Both tango together on the dance floor of Western Europe. Hitler shared a conquered land between Germany and Russia. Stalin grabbed the opportunity to increase the land mass of Russia by stealing from Eastern Europe. Stalin knew Hitler would attack Russia to take it as a part of the German Empire–the dream of a rising Third Reich. When Hitler controlled the war in Western Europe, he decided the best course of action was to attack Russia, who was much less adapted to the high-tech military weaponry. Hitler thought he could win Russia and get him one of the largest prizes for his German Empire. Stalin knew the time was coming. While he was building his low-tech Russian army, he instilled his poor people with the magic of nationalism, where sacrifices of life saved the motherland. The power of human nationalism is infinite. Atomic bombs or military power could not subjugate a country where these tribal bands united as one people. The Russians lost the largest number of people during the Second World War, but won the war at the end.

Hitler formed an alliance with Japan–a country believed to be part of an Asian Empire. During World War II, Germany led the axis powers in creating the Third Reich in Europe, and Japan occupied almost all of Asia, including China. To create their Japanese Empire, they had high hopes of entering the Indian subcontinent.

America joined the war late when it found out that its Anglo-Saxon cousins were in trouble and targeted by the axis power for world dominance. President Roosevelt, and Churchill invited Stalin to join the allies. Although Stalin did not like the Anglo-Saxon hegemony, he knew that the technological advances of the United States could help him prevent the German advances in Russia. Stalin understood the old saying, “To kill an enemy, you must use poison, and sometimes you must use poison to save yourself.” He bit the poison, knowing that one day America and Russia would fight it out in an existential crisis.

General George S. Patton during World War II said, Russia needs to be stopped now when they are battered, otherwise we will have to face these mortal enemies of the USA lurking on the horizon. His exact comment was, “The difficulty in understanding the Russian is that we do not take cognizance of the fact that he is not a European but an Asiatic and therefore thinks deviously. We can no more understand a Russian than a Chinaman or a Japanese and, from what I’ve seen of them, I have no particular desire to understand them except to ascertain how much lead or iron it takes to kill them. In addition to his other amiable characteristics, the Russian has no regard for human life and is an all-out son of a bitch, a barbarian, and a chronic drunk.”

During that time, Roosevelt and Eisenhower rebuked him for his racist remarks. He was not happy for Patton to say this in public, but when Eisenhower became president, he knew General Patton was correct. A day will come when America have to face this problem.

Let us return to Putin’s world. November 1962 the America and Russia came to where the Third World war might have started. America took the position that no country in North America can be an anti-democratic, totalitarian communist government allowed to operate. Cuba was only 50 miles from the American soil controlled by Cuban communist Fidel Castro. American government tried to destroy Castro’s power via proxy military support to the anti-Castro Cuban people. It failed. Castro dominated the country as the supreme leader of Cuba — a revolutionary and a nationalist. During this time, communism exploded in many countries around central and South America. Castro realized to maintain power, he must join Russia to get help to prevent American military, economic sanctions and other oppressive measures against Cuba to fulfill the American agenda of no communist influence on the American continent.

America used the first nuclear bomb to destroy Japan in 1945 and showed the world the might behind American power and indirectly hinted at the superiority of Anglo-Saxon around the globe. Russia wanted to catch up with the American dominance of the global political arena. So they focused on the crude technology of power; they developed the largest thermonuclear bombs, non-nuclear super bombs and cheap missile technology in the world, surpassing American domination of missile technology and the capacity to deliver nuclear bomb. Khrushchev figured out Russian advancement in missile technology would be a trump card for Castro to prevent American incursion in Cuba. Castro and Khrushchev and Russian intelligence developed a plan to control the US.

It was early September 1962. American surveillance systems, with the help of U2 planes, photographed the missile battery placed in Cuba. In the US military establishment, seeing photographs of missiles on Cuban soil only ninety miles from the US mainland horrified them. Pres. John F Kennedy realized that if the missile system became operational, then Russia could destroy America within a couple of hours by using nuclear bombs. President Kennedy- faced the existential crisis for America. His beloved country would be a powerless paper tiger. So saving America from this crisis he alerted the nuclear missile system in the US so that America could drop a nuclear bomb on Soviet Russia. The President realized the pre-emptive strike calculus was against him. Russia was too close to America. He took the gamble. He ordered a blockade of the international sea passage around Cuba and the Florida East Coast and search the Russian ships to see if they’re carrying the missile parts. President Kennedy sent a special envoy to Khrushchev to negotiate. The deal offered to Russians was, Russia will remove all missiles from Cuba and America promised not to invade Cuba and allow communist control of the country. Besides protecting the sovereignty of communist Cuba, America also gave a guarantee that it would not place missiles in Turkey which America was planning to set up there against the wishes of Russia. President Kennedy came to these arrangements to save America.

The so-called cold war was a bitter rivalry between Russia and America for many years. Then America with British and some European countries developed a new military alliance to protect the world peace through the development and implementation of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It became a military police force to control attacks from outside powers, Russia and the growing military might of the awakening China.

President Gorbachev of Russia and President Reagan became friends because they felt animosity between these superpowers was not helping America and Russia. In the so-called new Soviet socialism, Gorbachev relaxed control over Russia and embraced some democratic ideals blended with communist ideology. That helped East European countries like Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and others to form sovereign countries by breaking away from the USSR established after the Second World War. Vladimir Putin was among many Russians who realized Gorbachev gave too much power to Western European countries and controlled the lives of East European countries. Putin saw in his own eyes that majority East European countries developed alliances with NATO and encircled Russia with a missile battery armed with nuclear weapons. This left Russia vulnerable to the might of the United States and allowed NATO at its doorstep.

Putin’s eyes were focused on Ukraine because the border is closest to the Russian mainland and it is getting ready to join NATO soon. In Putin’s mind he could see what was coming to the Russian border. Moscow and important landmarks of mother Russia could disappear in less than half an hour if missiles carrying nuclear payloads rained down on them. So Putin, the butcher, to the world had to use the playbook of Pres. Kennedy developed it in 1962 to address the Cuban missile crisis. Just like President Kennedy, Putin realized Russia is facing the existential crisis.

He is in charge of Russia and he has the power to save Russia from an emerging nuclear firestorm on the horizon. So he looked at the map of Europe. Ukraine. It is only a few miles away from Russia. Distance between Kyiv, Ukraine to Moscow, Russia is only 471 miles. In 1962, the distance between Cuba to Washington, DC was 777 miles. It would take a missile launched from Cuba two hours to three hours to reach Washington, D.C. in 1962, but a rocket launched from Kyiv to Moscow in 2022 would reach the capital in less than 30 to 45 minutes. Because it has to fly only half the distance. In a nuclear exchange the time is the key. President Putin knows the math; positioning NATO’s missiles in Ukraine is a death blow for the existence of Russia, so he took the risk to invade Ukraine, not for land grabbing but to protect the motherland from a nuclear firestorm with its noose heading towards him.

Putin’s gamble in Ukraine should be analyzed based on context. He may be a tyrant, crazy, lunatic, and other nefarious objectives we can pile on him, but as far as Russia and its tribal clans are concerned, and he is the Savior of the motherland and perhaps surpassing Peter the Great of Russia.
